London Traffic: An ongoing research project...

The ongoing project focuses on analyzing traffic flow and collision distribution across various neighborhoods in London. The first phase, involving comprehensive analysis and visualization, has been successfully completed, yielding critical insights into traffic patterns and accident hotspots. The current phase involves developing an advanced Computer Vision model that utilizes CCTV data to identify and analyze misuse and irregularities in traffic behavior. This model employs sophisticated techniques such as segmentation, object detection, and tracking. The ultimate objective is to enhance the understanding of traffic dynamics and contribute to the improvement of road safety and efficiency throughout London.

Traffic Flow and Collision Analysis in London Neighborhoods (2017-2022)

The data visualization presented is a horizon chart illustrating traffic flow and collision data across various neighborhoods in London over the past five years. The chart employs a gradient color scheme where the darkest hues represent the highest frequency of traffic collisions, allowing for a clear comparison across different areas. By examining the bands, viewers can easily identify periods and locations with elevated collision rates. This visual tool aids in understanding traffic patterns and safety issues, highlighting critical zones that may require attention for traffic management and accident prevention. The data was collected from Transport for London (TfL) and various borough websites, and was meticulously wrangled to align overlapping data based on dates and neighborhoods.
